Balangir, July 27: Balangir district administration has begun an inquiry into the mysterious death of an eight-year-old son of a migrant labour at a brick kiln in Karnataka.
District labour officer (DLO) of Balangir Madan Mohan Paik yesterday visited Chaulbanji village under Khaprakhole block of the district and inquired into the allegation. On Thursday, the body of Kishore Das, 8, son of Bhakta Das, 33, was found under mysterious circumstances near the SVB brick kiln at Tapanalli village in Karnataka’s Kolar district, where they worked. Bhakta had lodged a complaint with the Adeballi police station. Sources said that the DLO spoke to Bhakta’s Rup Singh Das and some of the villagers at Chaulbanji.
“I also spoke to Bhakta over phone and inquired about the progress of inquiry in Karnataka. He didn’t go there through any labour contractor,” Paik said. “Only after Bhakta returns, will we be able to say anything about the incident,” he said.
Sources said that Kishore had gone missing on July 18 when the two were making bricks at the kiln.
A week later, Kishore’s body was found near the kiln. The family alleged that it was a case of human sacrifice.
