Bhubaneswar, Jan. 23: The family members of a courier company manager, who was shot dead two years ago, have expressed dissatisfaction with the progress of the Crime Branch probe.

The family members of Debashis Mohanty, 40, who had been found murdered in his car on January 23, 2011, at Janala, felt that the Crime Branch was not making enough effort to crack the case.

The case remains a mystery with neither the Cuttack-Bhubaneswar police nor the Crime Branch being able to make any significant progress. The Crime Branch took up the case in June 2011.

Sonali Mohanty, widow of the deceased, said: “We are not satisfied with the Crime Branch investigation. They do not inform us about the progress of the case. We are anxiously waiting for the accused to be arrested.”

The body of Debashis Mohanty, the area manager of First Flight courier service, was recovered from his car in a field behind a girls’ school at Ogalpada near National Highway-5 around 100 metres away from the Janala police outpost on January 24 morning.

The family members said they provided all information they had to the investigating officers, but the cops were yet to make any headway.

Investigating officer B.N. Das said: “We checked every clue provided to us by the family members. We hope to crack the case soon.” Das said he wanted more cooperation from the relatives of the deceased.
