Move to aid e-skills

Bhubaneswar, Nov. 22: The Odisha government today signed an MoU with Vedanta Foundation to enhance the skills of those studying between classes VI and X under its e-Shiksha programme.

The Vedanta Foundation will provide LED pico projectors to 1,000 schools in Odisha to help students understand subjects better with the help of animated pictures. The method will be used to teach subjects such as mathematics, science, English and the social sciences.

Scheduled castes and scheduled tribes welfare minister Lalbihari Himrika said: “As part of the e-Shiksha programme, the Vedanta Foundation will provide the hardware as well as software solutions, such as LED pico projectors with memory and battery back up and educational software, to students.”

The minister also said that the content of the e-Shiksha programme would be based on course curriculum in local language. Teachers will be trained to use course material.

Secretary of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes development department Santosh Sarangi said: “The content will be provided on the basis of the curriculum of the Board of Secondary Education. The teachers will also be given training. About 2 lakh students will benefit from the programme.” Director of the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes development department Susil Pupil signed the memorandum.
