Bhawanipatna: Junagarh's MLA Dibya Shankar Mishra has said the allegation against him of threatening to kill a disable person was baseless and concocted.
The BJD leader said he had done no wrong and that he had been unnecessarily dragged into a controversy. Talking about the sequence of the events that led to the incident, Mishra said he had gone to Nandagaon in Dharamgarh police station limits to attend a meeting where he was invited as chief guest.
"Just before the start of the meeting, a man named Tankadhar Kharsel chided him and other guests using foul language in front of a hundred women. I tried to calm him down. But he didn't stop and continued to use the filthy language even louder. I had no option but to shout at him. I even apologised to him when I came to know he was disabled," he said, adding that the matter had been blown out of proportion and exaggerated.
"The people who have made the video of me threatening the disabled person were selective. They edited the part where other person was using filthy language and have only shown the part where I was shouting at him. The whole episode seems to be politically motivated. The matter has been blown out of proportion and I am ready to face any inquiry," he said.
Tankadhar Kharsel, the disabled person, has lodged an FIR at Dharamgarh police station against the legislator for threatening to kill him.
