Cuttack, July 21: In the wake of schoolchildren falling ill after having midday meal at a primary school in Balasore last week, a lawyer has moved court to revive a PIL for proper implementation of the scheme and supplementary nutrition programmes in the state.
In 2011, advocate Dillip Kumar Mohapatra, 43, had filed a PIL in Orissa High Court after the dal scam involving supply of substandard pulses under midday meal programme in primary schools rocked the state and led to the resignation of Pramila Mallik as women and child welfare minister.
Mohapatra filed a related petition on Friday and sought monitoring of supply of food under midday meal and supplementary nutrition programmes in primary schools and anganwadi centres in the state. “The high court had been monitoring investigation by the state vigilance into the supply of substandard pulses for the midday meal programme. The state vigilance had submitted two status reports on the investigation,” Mohapatra said.
