Bhubaneswar: The Met centre detected a change in weather pattern along the state's coastal belt as part of an active western disturbance on Saturday and predicated a spell of rain with squall over the next three days.
"There will be a brief spell of rain, while the squall will occur mostly during the evenings," said Met director Sarat Chandra Sahu.
The Met has also predicted that the wind flow will also remain strong during this time.
Citizens, however will continue to bear with the heat with the average maximum temperature hovering between 35 and 29 degrees Celsius. "One or two spells of rain will not help reduce the temperature. The day temperature will remain high," said Sahu.
"This condition is usual during this time, but the days are getting hotter as compared to other years. It is just the beginning of March and we are witnessing temperatures of around 38°C. It is worrisome," said Old Town resident Manisha Sahu.
A Met official told The Telegraph that the prevailing weather will continue in coastal and pockets of northern Odisha till March 10. Therafter, there will be a steady rise in temperature afterwards. "The summer is likely to be harsher this year," said the official. On Saturday, Bhubaneswar was the state's hottest place at 39.7°C.
