Bhubaneswar: Daughter of a senior cop on Thursday alleged that a traffic constable had manhandled her at a busy intersection. However, the constable denied the charge.
The incident took place at AG Square near the state secretariat. The incident took place around 5.30pm on Thursday.
The girl is the daughter of ADG, railways and coastal security, Pranabindu Acharya. Soon after the incident, the ADG rushed to the traffic office. However, he refused to comment on the issue.
Describing the incident, the girl said: "I was driving and my mother was with me. The green light suddenly turned red when I was in the middle of the road. The constable stood in front of my car. Suddenly, she came and tried to drag me out. She even slapped me. I just wanted her to apologise."
The traffic at the spot was stalled for a few minutes as an altercation ensued between the girl and the constable, Puspalata Bhoi. The girl was seen pleading with the cop to get her car key back.
Bhoi said: "I did my duty and stopped her as she had violated the traffic rule. I did not slap her." DCP Anup Sahu said: "A probe has been ordered. The CCTV footage is being examined."
