Man kills kin over property

A man allegedly killed two members of his family in a fit of rage because of a dispute over a piece of land.

Rourkela: A man allegedly killed two members of his family in a fit of rage because of a dispute over a piece of land.

Rajesh Sethi, 28, killed his first cousin, Janaki Sethi, 25, and her mother Jhampa, 40, following an altercation. The incident took place at Sanua village in Koira police limits on Saturday.

Police nabbed Rajesh from Koira bus stand when he was trying to flee to Barbil.

Bonai sub-divisional police officer Abakash Routray said: "Jhampa had come to Rajesh's house and had discussion with Rajesh and his mother. After some time, they had an argument and Jhampa left. Rajesh followed her to her house where he hit her on the head with a shovel. Later, he hit her with an axe, killing her on spot. When his cousin tried to save her mother, Rajesh attacked and killed her."
