Bhubaneswar: Last year's Make in Odisha conclave has begun to yield results with chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday performing groundbreaking ceremony of 15 industrial projects worth Rs 12,000 crore.
Performing the ritual groundbreaking ceremony through videoconferencing, Naveen described last year's conclave as "an overwhelming success". He also said that the second edition of the biennial event would be held from November 11 to 15 next year.
Naveen has asked the officials to work overtime to achieve the mission of Rs 2.5 lakh crore worth investments under Vision-2025. These investments are expected to create an additional 30 lakh employment opportunities.
One of the 15 projects that were launched on Thursday has already become operational. The remaining units are expected to take off between nine months and two years. The 15 projects launched on Thursday cover the sectors of fertiliser, cement, food processing, solar power, bio-technology, marine products and electricity.
At the last year's conclave, the state government had attracted investment proposals worth Rs 2.03 lakh crore for 124 proposals. So far, 75 of those have taken shape. Naveen also inaugurated GO SWIFT, the state's first single window portal for industries.
"It will provide all required services and support to an investor during the entire investment lifecycle of a project in a time-bound, hassle-free, paper-less and transparent manner," he said.
The portal deals with approval process for 32 services from 15 government departments. It has been made end-to-end online, including online approvals, e-payments, application tracking and downloading of certificates for all linked government to business services.
Industries secretary Sanjeev Chopra said: "The state government is committed to provide project approvals within 30 days and with the launch of GO SWIFT, Odisha has taken another step forward in strengthening its position as a leader in business reforms."
