Health: Three special medical teams have been formed to monitor health services during the festival. Special camps will be organised at Debi Gada while one doctor each will be attached to four police stations, including Mangalabag and Dargha Bazar. A special team has been constituted to keep a check on the sale of stale food during the immersion ceremony on October 5. Two special ambulances, along with medical staff, will be on duty round the clock.
Electricity: The Central Electricity Supply Utility (Cesu) has formed a special squad to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Dussehra. The officials are trying to ensure that the residential colonies do not face problems due to overloading and low voltage. A team has also been formed to see that power supply is restored in case of emergency.
Commissionerate Police: More than 40 platoons of police, along with quick reaction teams, will be on duty during the festival. Special one-way system has already been introduced to streamline the traffic movement, especially, during the immersion ceremony. Installation of closed-circuit cameras (CCTVs) at strategic locations will keep mischief mongers in check.
Sanitation: Cuttack Municipal Corporation has already formed a special team to ensure quick disposal of solid waste from various localities and Puja mandaps. Over 200 persons will be deployed to keep an eye on sanitation measures. One dustbin each will be provided to Puja mandaps in the city.
Bhubaneswar
Health: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has formed a health team to keep tabs on roadside vendors. The members will conduct checks on a day-to-day basis. They will also conduct surprise checks. The team will function under the city health officer.
Electricity: While the municipal body is taking steps to keep the streets well lit during the festival, the Cesu has formed four teams to ensure that safety precautions are followed by the puja organisers and that they use proper metres. The electricity utility will see to it that all its employees are on duty during the Puja.
Sanitation: The civic body’s special sanitation work is already under way. The municipal body will ensure 24x7 solid waste cleaning service near major puja pandals. Organisers have been asked to use dustbins.
