Cuttack: Orissa High Court lawyers on Tuesday resumed services after abstaining from work for nearly three weeks.

The high court advocates had been on cease work since February 12.

They intensified the agitation seeking appointment of judges by launching an indefinite relay hunger strike and stopped filing of cases on February 20.

The High Court Bar Association on Monday resolved to suspend their agitation for the time being.

"We resolved to suspend cessation of work for the time being after we were assured by Chief Justice Vineet Saran to take steps by March 31 to expedite process for filling up vacant post of judges," association secretary Satyabrata Mohanty said. With the decision, normal function of court proceedings resumed on Tuesday.

The court proceeded with taking stock of the repair progress of the Puri Jagannath temple.

After taking note of the ASI's progress report, the court posted the matter to February 13 for hearing, along with the temple administration's report.
