Balasore, July 10: Police today released the sketch (see picture) of one of the key suspects in the rape of a minor here on June 28.

Two unknown criminals had gang-raped an 11-year-old girl from Soro. While the cops are yet to establish the identity of the suspects after two weeks, they have prepared a sketch of the main suspect based on the descriptions provided by the victim and other witnesses. The sketch was prepared based on the victim and witness descriptions. <>We have begun efforts to nab him," said Soro police station inspector in-charge Parsuram Sahoo.

The victim was playing with her friends in front of her home on June 28 when two unidentified persons on a motorcycle asked her for directions to the village carpenter's house. When the victim said she knew the address, the duo took her along.

When she did not return home in the evening, her family began a search for her. They found her around 8.15pm, lying in a semi-conscious state under section 376(d) of the IPC and began probing into the incident The victim's father, who works in a Mumbai hotel, has returned home following the incident.The incident triggered outrage among the public, who demanded an investigation by the crime branch of the state police and immediate arrest of the culprits.
