Berhampur: The Berhampur University convocation scheduled on February 6 will be held according to its schedule. Governor-cum-chancellor S.C. Jamir will attend the programme as usual, said PG council chairman Devi Prasanna Patnaik.
Earlier, the varsity syndicate had decided to hold the convocation on any convenient date of the governor-chancellor as the latter had expressed his inability to attend the convocation on the scheduled date.
Accordingly, the chancellor's office was requested to give a convenient date. However, sourced said the chancellor had later agreed to attend the convocation as scheduled earlier.
"We are obliged to the chancellor that he cancelled his tour programme to Nagaland on February 6 and would be joining with us," said Patnaik.
"We have reviewed every aspect of the ceremony in the preparatory committee meeting on Friday. The convocation would start at 11-30am," said Patnaik.
The university this time will confer honorary DLitt to writer Ramakanta Rath, while KIIT University founder Achyuta Samanta will be awarded DSC.
Apart from the honorary degrees, 31 to be awarded with gold medals, nine with DLitt and 125 with PhD.
