Youngsters promote tree plantation at Raahgiri in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
"Dedi Luku'', a character representing "tree man'' in Kui language interacted with the crowd to spread awareness on depleting green cover and encourage afforestation in the urban environment.
Health awareness camps were also conducted. Two city-based psychiatrists, Pranab Mahapatra and Sudipta Kumar Das, informed the crowd about various forms of mental illness and how to prevent them.
Youth group USI Foundation organised an awareness campaign to encourage people to keep a pot of water outside their homes this summer for birds and animals. They also distributed earthen pots among the visitors. Youths also took out a procession to make people aware about the harmful effects of smoking. Another group, Being Indian Foundation, conducted a programme to thank the Indian Army. Members of Samaj Andolan also stage a rally to promote Odia language at the weekly event.
