Bhubaneswar, Aug 13: The state government will come up with a short film documenting the success stories of young entrepreneurs from the grassroots level.

The film will be made by the state's micro small and medium enterprises (MSME) department and will be disseminated among youngsters. The government feels it would motivate them to become self-employed.

"A large number of graduates and post-graduates of our state are sitting idle. They lack vision and are jobless. There is an urgent need to develop entrepreneurial culture in Odisha, especially in the rural areas. The film will be extremely helpful in creating awareness among the Odia youths," said Panchanan Das, secretary of the MSME department.

The 15-minute film will be shot under the aegis of the Odisha Film Development Corporation. "We will assist the film corporation with resources. The film will be shot at the earliest," said Das.

"A lot of research will be put into the making of the film and a team will be set up to conduct an extensive survey to pick up the right talents," Das said. The MSME department will also incorporate the success stories of entrepreneurs who were promoted by banks as well as the khadi and village industries board.

"The start-up culture is gradually rising in urban areas such as Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. A number of youngsters living in the rural areas have also started their own enterprises for a living but their number is not substantial. More entrepreneurial youngsters should make their mark," said Das.

"There have been instances when young boys after taking training from computer schools in the cities have opened learning centres in rural areas," Das said.

He said the film would be helpful for youngsters since it will highlight the importance of entrepreneurship.

The film will be aired on news channels and will also be screened at various colleges and universities. Successful entrepreneurs will also be invited to share their experience.
