Berhampur, Sept. 8: Three robbers have fled with Rs 5 lakh from the strongroom of an Indian Bank branch at Kanchana in Ganjam.
The robbery took place in the Kodala police limits yesterday afternoon. "We suspect the involvement of local goons," said Ganjam police superintendent Narasingh Bhol.
However, the cops are finding it difficult to get clues because the robbers smashed the CCTV camera and decamped with the recording machine.
The three robbers came to the bank on a motorcycle. While two were wearing helmets, the other covered his face with a mask. They brandished swords and a bhujali (a sharp weapon). While one kept guard at the main gate, the two others entered the bank, said an eyewitness.
