From sailing colourful boats to making masks, or writing slogans to taking part in mock Assembly, children of all age groups had a fun-filled Tuesday at various events held for them in the capital city. Priya Abraham of The Telegraph takes a look
Anjali fest
Participants engrossed themselves in a host of activities on the second day of Anjali camp. They made colourful boats to mark boita bandana.
School students who visited the camp took part in "wheelchair ride" and "blindfolded walk" where they had a first-hand experience of the limitations and difficulties faced by their disabled friends.
"The camp aims to develop the artistic skills in children We have successfully taught history through theatre, local culture through dances, literature through puppetry, importance of inclusion through music and science through outdoor trips. Sharing stories of challenges faced and successes achieved by special children helps blossom relationships where differences become pillars for inclusion," said Anjali founder Shruti Mohapatra.
Sishu mela
The three-day event hosted by the People's Cultural Centre has a host of competitions such as rhyme, fancy dress and Odissi dance. "This fest aims to highlight the issues they face and provide a platform where they can develop their creativity," said Ranjan Mohanty of the organisation.
Surabhi
Students at Surabhi, organised by the state government, took part in slogan writing competition and later in a "mock assembly" where they discussed current issues, including demonetisation. A cultural concert called "surbhi yamini" was also organised.
