Bhubaneswar, Feb. 5: Kharavela Nagar police today arrested four persons in connection with a Rs 95 lakh bank fraud case and another attempted fraud worth Rs 80 lakh.

The two cases took place over the past month at two private banks in the city. The police recovered Rs 39 lakh from them.

The accused have been identified as Tapas Ranjan Mohanty, 35, cluster head of HDFC Bank Balasore, Umakant Priyadarshi, 34, and Soumya Dash, 32, an employee of Jana Jagaran, a voluntary organisation at Ghatikia.

These three were involved in the Rs 95 lakh fraud at HDFC Bank on January 30, and the fourth accused, Arabina Parida of Nimapara, was involved in a case of attempted cheating at IndusInd Bank last month.

Deputy commissioner of police Nitinjit Singh said Mohanty masterminded both cases and had links with expert criminals in Calcutta identified as Jogiyani, Anjat Hakani and Nirmal.
