Jajpur: Police arrested four youths from Vyas Nagar municipal area and its surroundings for abusing and misbehaving with their on-duty patrol staff on Sunday morning.

The arrested have been identified as Ajit Kumar Samal, 24, Sourav Kumar Sahoo, 25, Abhijit Das, 23, - all from Nahaka village - and Bidyadhar Sahoo, 29, Panasua village.

They were all under the influence of alcohol and abused the police when they were asked to lower the volume of amplifiers that they were using in the Ganesh idol immersion procession, said an officer.

"More than 25 people are involved in the crime and all of them will be arrested soon," said Amitabha Mohapatra, inspector in charge of Jajpur Road police station.

The accused were forwarded to a local court on Sunday and were later remanded in judicial custody when their bail pleas were rejected.
