Sambalpur, Sept. 27: A workshop on National Programme on Technology-Enhanced Learning was organised at Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology in Burla today. More than 200 students took part in it.
The university has planned to introduce the National Programme on Technology-Enhanced Learning and the workshop was organised to make the students and the faculty of aware about it.
Varsity vice-chancellor B.K. Nanda said: “We will implement the programme for the students and the faculty shortly. They can make use of the facility in the university library.”
“This programme is a Centre-sponsored collaborative education programme developed by seven IITs and IISc, Bangalore. It is different from the traditional classroom learning and both students and teachers will be benefit from it,” said Nanda.
“Through this programme, the students and teachers here will be able to learn from eminent teachers from across the world through the Internet,” he said.
Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology offers 10 undergraduate programmes, 18 postgraduate programmes, three MSc programmes and MCA. There are around 3,000 students in the university.
“The main objective of the National Programme on Technology-Enhanced Learning programme is to enhance the quality of education in the country by developing curriculum-based video and web courses. The objective of the workshop is to make the students of our institution aware about the programme,” said co-ordinator of the workshop Bikramaitya Das.
“In India, where a large number of private institutions have entered the field of engineering education with inadequate faculty support and training, the project is aimed at providing a standard for academic content for both the teacher and the student,” said Akhil Nair, who took part in the workshop.
