Bhubaneswar, Jan. 4: More than 50 children from across the city took part in a fashion competition for the Prince and Princess-2015 title at the Ekamra Haat today. The event was organised by Indulz Events, a city-based event management firm, and powered by Boyanika.

The competition was held in two categories - pre-junior (3-5 years) and junior (6-8 years). The event, which had been divided into three rounds, started from 11am.

Odissi dancer Kumar Bhimsen, radio jockey-cum-anchor Priyadarshi Mahapatra and singer Manaswini Mohanty were the judges.

'I was floored after witnessing the own choice round where the participants were asked to come up with something on their own. They donned different characters to portray the beauty of nature. The portrayal of subjects as poignant as motherly love and as sensitive as child labour, shook me to consciousness,' said Kumar Bhimsen. He added that childhood is the best time for learning.

Srikant Patri, a representative of Indulz Events, said: 'Books and grades are not the only means for shaping one up. Children need to develop interpersonal skills too.'

Arms akimbo, the participants walked on the ramp with grace accompanied by their parents. The prince and princess awards were given respectively to Sarthak and Saranya of pre-junior category and Shreyans and Sristi of junior category. Miss Odisha-2014 Jyotirmayee Bal conferred the awards on them.

Guest of honour Debu Bose hopped on the stage and took part in the sprightly participants around. Bose also sang rhymes with the participants.
