Bhubaneswar, Jan. 16: Officials at the Odisha Joint Entrance Examinations (OJEE) office here were surprised today when two students aspiring to take up technical courses in the state wanted to know the details about how and they would have to deposit the money as mentioned in the “OJEE website”.
“We were quite surprised as registrations for OJEE are yet to begin. We cross checked and found that the students were referring to a fake website,” said OJEE secretary Priyabrata Sahoo.
The website, www.odishajee14.com, had been registering students for all courses including engineering, medical, MBA and pharmacy.
The website was full of incorrect information and asked students to pay fees for different courses at a particular bank account. Two mobile numbers were also provided.
“We immediately lodged a complaint with the Airfield police, which will forward it to the cyber cell for further investigation,” said Sahoo.
“The official OJEE site www.odishajee.com contains all the details and students have been informed about it through all possible media. It’s unfortunate that some of them still fall prey to such mischief,” said Sahoo.
OJEE authorities said they were not sure if the website had already duped some students. “It could be possible. Had these students not come to us, they would have been cheated,” said Sahu, adding that if in doubt, students could call up the helplines 0674-3242455, 3242456, 6552455 and 6552456. The controversial is not live any more.
