| Activists in Balasore protest against the role of the Maharashtra government in arresting Kanpur-based cartoonist Aseem Trivedi. A member of India Against Corruption, Trivedi was held on sedition charges allegedly for mocking the Constitution and posting “objectionable” cartoons on his blog. Following a nation-wide protest, he was, however, released on bail on Wednesday. Bombay High Court on Wednesday described his arrest as “illegal, bad in law, and unjustified”. On release, Trivedi said he would intensify his campaign against the country’s sedition law. Telegraph picture |
