Bhubaneswar, Jan. 8: Students here rued that there were either no gaps or very few gaps between exams in the timetables of both Class X and XII published by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) today.
Exams for both the classes will start on March 2. While the exams for Class X will end on March 26, Class XII exams will end on April 17.
“There is just one day gap before the maths exam, which is insufficient considering the vast the course,” said Nitish Das, student of a city school.
The students also rued that there was not a single day gap before the science exam scheduled on March 3.
The students of Class XII appeared nervous about the scheduling of exams.
“There is no gap before the biotechnology paper and there is just one day gap before maths and chemistry exams. We have only two days gaps between physics and chemistry exams. It will be very difficult for an average students like me who need a lot of time for revisions,” said Aditya Patra, a Class XII student.
Teachers, too, appeared worried.
“Earlier, there used to be three to four days gap between exams, but the gaps have reduced considerably this time. There should be at least a decent gap between crucial exams such as science and maths. Many times students call us up and reach our homes with doubts indicating their level of stress. A decent gap of two three days will considerably drop their stress and make them perform better,” said Tanuaj K. Sahoo, a senior teacher.
More than 10 lakh candidates from across the country will appear the Class XII boards and around 12 lakh students will appear the Class X boards.
In Odisha, about 20,000 students from 250 schools will be appearing for the Class X exams.
Last year, a total of 55,040 students appeared the exams from the Bhubaneswar region that consists of Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Bengal.
Similarly, about 45,000 students will be appearing the Class XII exams from the Bhubaneswar region, which includes 10,500 from Odisha.
The ICSE boards will begin on February 27 and end on March 30, while the ISC exams will begin on February 9 and end on April 1.
