Bhubaneswar, Oct. 28: The special vigilance court has confiscated the properties of a retired IAS officer Sanjiv Kumar Ray, who was earlier found guilty in a disproportionate asset case.

The Cuttack-Bhubaneswar police have removed him from his house at Gandamunda following the court order.

The special vigilance court had convicted Ray on January 25, on charges of amassing properties disproportionate to his known sources of income. The court had sentenced him to three years of rigorous imprisonment and fined him Rs 1 lakh.

During his tenure as an additional secretary in the state cooperation department from 1997 to 2001, Ray had amassed properties worth nearly Rs 16 lakh. The court had ordered confiscation of his properties.
