Foundation Day

BJEM School, Bhubaneswar, celebrated its 45th foundation day with pomp and festivity on Thursday. A grand show with a plethora of around 200 projects (live and model) on “Indian Culture and Heritage” was held to commemorate the occasion. Noted sculptor Raghunath Mohapatra was the chief guest at the event. Principal Sandhya Jena highlighted the school's achievements and appreciated the efforts of staff members and students to come up with a wonderful show. The first session started with the cleaning of Buxi Jagabandhu's statue, lighting the ceremonial lamp and pledge. Attending the valedictory as chief guest, writer and academic Digaraj Brahma expressed hope that young children would uphold the value of the Indian culture and heritage throughout their lives.

Silver jubilee

Mother’s Public School, Bhubaneswar, organised a series of events to celebrate its silver jubilee from July to December last year. Various events and inter-school competitions were held, including cinema screenings, short play competitions, quiz competitions, science exhibitions and band shows. Students from schools across Bhubaneswar took part in the events. A three-day closing ceremony culminated with a grand evening on December 23 where governor S.C. Jamir was the chief guest. A coffee table book chronicling the school’s journey was released on the occasion

Migration dialogue
An inter-state dialogue on migration of children, organised by Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights in collaboration with Unicef and Aide et Action, was held on January 15 and 16 at Hotel Swosti Premium, Bhubaneswar. It aimed to facilitate deliberation, planning, communication and interaction of three key government agencies — the departments of labour, women and child development and social welfare and school education — and civil society organisations of nine states (both destination and source) to come out with a commonly-agreed-upon policy framework and realistic implementation strategies to enable these children to have a safe and secure childhood even when they and their families are on the move.

The nine states were Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Bengal.

B-Plan event

JAG Educate recently conducted a B-Plan competition, The Future is Here, for 300 students from different schools and colleges.

The idea was to give young students an idea about what management and leadership is all about and get them to connect closely with the underprivileged, understand society's overall problems and fight them together. The qualifying teams got a chance to interact with IIM-A alumni, who mentored the teams through different phases of the competition. The final round will be held on January 26.
