Sambalpur: The district administration will introduce e-mutation system for land records from January 1, 2018. The tehsil offices of three sub-divisional headquarters - Sambalpur, Kuchinda and Rairakhol are ready to implement the system.

People seeking mutation of their land can now apply online. The technical formalities for the system have been completed, sub-collector, Sambalpur Pradeep Kumar Sahu told The Telegraph on Tuesday.

"The system will be online and transparent and thus there will be no role of any middleman," Sahu said.

A software is being used to store the details of the land and past records. The petitioner cannot mislead the officials. Any kind of litigation on the land can be can found out through a search option. The petitioner can know about the movement of a file and the status in process, he said. They will also get alert message on their phones.

"With the new system, the things will be very simple as people will be able to find out the status and background of the land "patta". They will not be cheated by the land mafias as well," he said.

In the normal procedure, petitioners had to go to the office of the revenue inspectors, tehsildars to follow up the movement of the files. The officials used asked them to come to the office for documents verification but under the new system, the data, ownership, photographs of the owner and map of the land can be seen in the computer. After the sale of the land, the deed will automatically be transferred in the name of the new owner, a senior said.

People can use the new system under a single window system in tehsil office.

Initially, it may create some technical problem, but later it will be very easy for the officials and the applicants, the sub-collector said. The system will be free of corruption.

This will be a major achievement in the revenue administration in the district. After success in three tehsils, the district administration will slowly introduced the e-mutation system in other tehsils of the district, he said.
