Bhubaneswar, Feb. 17: E-evaluation will be conducted for the physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology and the zoology papers from this academic year, said the Council of Higher Secondary Education chairman Basudeb Chattoi.
There would be no e-evaluation of English, Modern Indian Language (MIL) and other optional papers in the science stream. The decision has been taken after considering the inexperience of the teachers in the procedures.
Official sources said the initiative was being implemented for the first time and the council did not want to take any chances. It will organise a two-day training at 30 nodal centres in the state on February 19 and 20 for the assistant examiners and chief examiners.
The first phase training for digital correction of the answer scripts was conducted in Bhubaneswar on February 13.
The higher education department has decided to revise the evaluation fee from existing Rs 10 to Rs 15 for each answer script. Last year, the amount was hiked to Rs 10 from Rs 6.
Higher education minister Pradeep Panigrahy said the decision to hike the fee had been taken for the benefit of the evaluators, who were required to sit for at least six hours at a stretch to correct the papers. To reduce their burden, each evaluator will correct only 15 answer scripts.
The minister had earlier announced air-conditioning as well as generator facilities at all the 50 evaluation centres.
As many as 94,952 science students will take the test, for which 3,600 teachers are being trained. More than 3.71 lakh students will appear for the Plus Two examinations for all the four streams beginning from March 2. The department had earlier announced to conduct e-evaluation for all the four streams.
