Patna: Leaders of the JDU, RJD and BJP alleged on Friday that Pappu Yadav's motorcade was not attacked in Muzaffarpur during the Bharat Bandh as the Madhehpura MP has claimed, and described him as dramabaaz (prone to theatrics).
Pappu has Y category security, under which he has 10 armed CRPF commandos and two personal security officers with him round-the-clock. But during the Bharat Bandh on Thursday, the five-time parliamentarian broke down in front of the media claiming that he had a narrow escape when bandh supporters attacked his cavalcade, abused him and asked about his caste.
"He is a big dramabaaz," Niraj Kumar Singh Bablu, BJP MLA from Chhatapur in Supaul, said on Friday. "What proof does he have that his vehicle was attacked? He is a big liar and starts crying at the drop of a hat. He keeps Vicks Vaporub in his pocket and whenever he wants to cry he just rubs it in his eyes. Even his tears are not real."
Bablu asked what Pappu's security personnel were doing when he was "attacked" and why he did not complain to the Centre or to the local police.
"He claims people were asking his name and then abusing. Is there any person in India who does not know about the caste Pappu Yadav belongs to? He is doing all this just to gain sympathy," the BJP MLA added. Muzaffarpur senior superintendent of police (SSP) Harpreet Kaur had denied on Thursday that the MP was manhandled.
"Pappu Yadav is a big dramabaaz and clown," said JDU spokesperson Ajay Alok. "The clown culture in politics was introduced by Lalu Prasad and he still remains the clown king. This clown culture has been adopted by Tej Pratap Yadav, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, Pappu Yadav and Sharad Yadav. Since Lalu is in jail, the struggle is over who is going to be the clown king so that he can control the Yadav dynasty."
He added: "But they forget that the people of Bihar are mature and smart enough to understand that clown politics is not going to work. The video, in which he (Pappu) is assuring the protesters that he will support their cause, proves that he is liar."
Even RJD MLA Bhai Birendra tore into Pappu , saying that the MP, who had said that he would resign if both Lalu's sons win the Assembly elections in 2015, should keep his promise.
Pappu, meanwhile, said the CBI can probe whether his vehicle was attacked or not.
