Defence unit at Gopalpur

Sure Safety Solutions (SSS) Private Ltd, a Mumbai-based firm in collaboration with Meggitt Defence Systems Ltd, UK, will set up a manufacturing unit of aerial target products for defence purposes.

Berhampur, Oct. 28: Sure Safety Solutions (SSS) Private Ltd, a Mumbai-based firm in collaboration with Meggitt Defence Systems Ltd, UK, will set up a manufacturing unit of aerial target products for defence purposes.

The unit will come up at Gopalpur Industrial Park that belongs to the Tata Steel in Ganjam district. A ceremony for the first assembly line shed was held at the park today.

SSS is expected to invest Rs 50 to 60 crore in the assembly plant, which will be built over five acres under the Make in India scheme. The project will begin with an assembly line for aerial targets, followed with servicing Meggitt's more than $50 million order procured from the government of India for aerial targets.

Ravi Agarwal, the president and CEO of SSS said: "We are glad to associate ourselves with Tata Steel Industrial Park at Gopalpur and will contribute our bit for industrial development of the area. We sincerely hope to start production here next year."

Founded in 2004, SSS is a defence technology product maker with expertise in manufacturing and integration of equipment in the field of electronic warfare, optical tracking systems and training simulators, which are required for the modern day armed forces. It has a pan-India presence.

The Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Tata Steel is developing an industrial park at Gopalpur in Ganjam district, which will not only facilitate industrial development in the region but also contribute to the holistic development of the area. Recently, 1,235 acres of land was registered in the name of Tata Steel SEZ for the first phase.

Arun Misra, the vice-president of Project Gopalpur and managing director of Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Ltd said: "This is a bright beginning for us and we look forward to many more investments in this industrial park in the upcoming days. We are in discussion with investors from China and other South-East Asian countries. They had shown interest in partnering with us. We are committed to establish this region as the next industrial hotspot of Odisha and the occasion marks the first step in this regard."
