Culture event a hit in Angul

Thousands thronged the three-day Angul Zila Mahostav as the festival, which concluded on Saturday, lined up several cultural and entertainment programmes.

Angul: Thousands thronged the three-day Angul Zila Mahostav as the festival, which concluded on Saturday, lined up several cultural and entertainment programmes.

The Zila Sanskruti Parishad organised the fest.

Parishad authorities had roped in cultural troupes from the state and outside for to make the event a success. Folk troupes from Assam, Gujarat, Punjab, Goa and other parts of the country performed at the fest.Beginning with Odissi, several dance and cultural events were staged on the occasion.Parliamentary affairs minister Bikram Keshari Arukh highlighted the district's rich heritage and culture and called it one of the most advanced industrial districts in the country.

Speaking at the inauguration programme of the festival, the BJD leader said: "Angul's contribution to the state is great. The district is on the front row of development and rich in heritage and biodiversity."

District collector Anil Kumar Samal said: "The administration is committed to progress and prosperity. We utilised the District Mineral Fund in the right way."

"Odissi artistes were the most amusing. I came with my family at the event," said Prakash Pradhan.

Angul's traditional Danda dance delighted the audience the most.
