Crime thriller on real-life incident

Bhubaneswar: This Dussehra, movie lovers will be get to watch a film based on the Patnagarh wedding gift blast incident that created ripples in the state.

The film will directed by the national award-winning filmmaker Rajesh Touchriver. The crime-thriller will be released in Odia and Telugu.

Produced under the banner of Range Royal Cine Lab, the shooting for the film has begun in the city.

Minute details of the entire incident, from how the lecturer planned his revenge and executed the plan will be shown in the movie.

Actor Atul Kulkarni of Rang De Basanti fame will play the role of crime branch inspector general Arun Bothra while actor Manoj Mishrawill be seen as Punjilal Meher - the mastermind behind the blast.The film was earlier titled as Bullet Raja, but was later changed to Patnagarh to connect the audience with the real incident.

"The film will show the audience the details of the real-life incident. Films on such real incidents have become very popular in various film industries across the country and I am hopeful it will click here as well," said the director.

On February 23, five days after their marriage, Soumya Sekhar Sahu, a 26-year-old software engineer, and his 85-year-old grand aunt Jemamani Sahu were killed and his 22-year-old wife Reema was injured when Soumya was opened a parcel that arrived at their home in Patnagarh.

Police took two months to crack the sensational crime and claimed that Punjilal Meher, 46-year old English professor, sent the wedding gift over a professional rivalry with Soumya Sekhar's mother, who was the principal of the same college where the Meher taught.

Odia actor Chinmay Mishra will play the role of Soumya Sekhar Sahoo. "I am looking forward to better recognition through the film," he said.

Mushroom sickness

Five persons of a family have fallen sick after consuming poisonous mushrooms in Kalimati village in Harichandanpur block of Keonjhar district. The sick persons have been shifted to district headquarters hospital.

Those undergoing treatment had consumed mushroom which might have contained toxic substances. All of them are recovering fast and they are of danger, hospital sources said. Mushroom poisoning leads to gastrointestinal disorder, which may turn fatal if not hospitalised on time. The immediate symptoms of mushroom poisoning are stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhoea and drop in blood pressure, said a health official.
