Bhubaneswar, Oct. 4: The school and mass education department has issued a warning to officials who have been misusing their power at various levels.
The department said such activities would not be tolerated and action would be taken against the erring officials. It passed on this message to the various cluster resource centre coordinators (CRCC) and block research centre coordinators (BRCC) appointed under Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan.
The recently constituted grievance cell has received reports of the CRCCs and BRCCs misusing their powers. It was alleged that instead of carrying out their duties, these officials have been using their power to harass teachers.
Currently, 316 BRCCs and 4,742 CRCCs are engaged under Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan.
“These officials are required to monitor 10 to 12 primary schools under their jurisdiction, teach wherever the strength of teachers is not adequate, look after the repair work of the school building and try to get the dropouts back to school,” said a senior official in the department. However, most of these officials do nothing, he added.
To train the CRCCs and BRCCs on quality education and make them aware of their duties, the department has decided to organise a workshop in November.
The department has already earmarked the second and fourth Wednesday of each month as grievance day for teachers.
Also, the grievance cell and grievance forum are in place. So there would be no trouble in finding out erring persons, the official added.
