Bhubaneswar: The SC and ST wings of the state Congress on Monday demonstrated in front of the State Forensic Science Laboratory at Rasulgarh to demand action against lab officials for discrepancies in the forensic report of the alleged Kunduli rape victim.
The protesters scuffled with police when they tried to barge into the laboratory.
"The lab report contrasted the medical examination that had ruled out rape. The lab authorities deliberately changed the report to shield the police. The authorities should clarify how the preliminary forensic report revealed the presence of semen," said the Congress's SC cell chairman and Koraput MLA Krushna Chandra Sagaria.
A draft report from the lab stated that there was semen in the victim's innerwear.
The final report, however, did not have the same findings. The lab authorities have since issued two clarifications claiming that the forensic report was 100 per cent accurate and no semen was detected in the final report, which was conducted through DNA test.
Later, the exhibit was sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Calcutta.
Former MP and the party's ST cell chairman Pradeep Majhi accused the police of suppressing the girl's medical examination report.
A three-member team of National Commission for Schedule Castes on Monday visited the victim's home. The team also visited her school and held discussions with neighbours to ascertain the circumstances leading to her suicide.
