Berhampur: An eve-teaser was beaten up by a college girl in Gandhinagar area here on Thursday.

Police have registered a case after the girl lodged a complaint in the Town police station. "Steps are being taken to nab the culprit," said superintendent of police Berhampur Pinak Mishra.

The accused and his friends used to stalk the girl, a Plus II student of Berhampur Women's College, and passed lewd comments on her. Despite several warning the youth followed the girl on her way to college.

Disgusted with his behaviour, the girl decided to take on the boy herself.

The girl caught hold of the boy after parking her bicycle on the middle of the road and slapped him about five times on the road to Gandhinagar near Sai Complex on Thursday around 10am.

Some commuters recorded a video of the incident on their phones and uploaded it on social media. Many people, including women and young girls, heaped praises on the girl for her bravery.

The boy passed lewd comments on her several times.

Though she warned him not to do so, he didn't listen to her, the girl told the police while lodging the complaint.
