Cine stars get ready to hit fours and sixes - Two matches of Celebrity Cricket League to be held at Barabati Stadium on February 8

Cuttack, Jan. 16: The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) will host two matches of Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) tournament at Barabati Stadium on February 8.

An official of the OCA said that the first match would be played between Bengal Tigers and Mumbai Heroes, while Bhojpuri Dabbangs would take on Telugu Warriors in the second tie.

Filmstars Suniel Shetty, Aftab Shivdasani, Manoj Tiwari, Ventakesh, siblings Riya and Raima Sen, Sridevi, Randeep Hooda, Zayed Khan, Chitrangada Singh, Bobby Deol, Sohail Khan and Huma Qureshi will be star attractions at Barabati stadium during both the matches.

A team comprising Odia actors will also feature in the star-studded league from the next season, as OCA officials on Thursday urged the CCL officials for the inclusion of the state team. “We have requested the officials to complete all necessary formalities so that a team from Odisha consisting of Odia actors feature in the next edition of the CCL,” said OCA secretary Ashirbad Behera.

Behera said that there also plans to include film stars from Assam and Tripura in the new team. However, a final decision is likely to be taken up after the two matches that are slated to be played at Barabati next month. The Odisha team is likely to be led by Anubhav Mohanty.

Addressing a media conference this afternoon, owner of the Bengal Tigers team Boney Kapoor said that there were plans to include two new teams one each consisting of actors from Odisha, Tripura and Assam and from Gujarat and Punjab. Boney Kapoor also met chief ministerNaveen Patnaik and sought co-operation of the state government for hosting the event smoothly.

“Odia film industry is one of the growing industries in the entertainment sector and we are keen to include a team from Odisha,” said Kapoor.

Kapoor also said that the CCL had been trying to provide the right platform for actors of Bollywood and other regional film industry to interact with one other.

An OCA official said that it was for the first time that Cuttack had been made a venue in the Celebrity Cricket League, while other matches will be played at Ranchi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bangalore and Dubai. A total of 16 matches will be played in the CCL starting from January 25 to February 23, while Barabati will host two matches on a single day on February 8. Adequate steps are being taken to ensure that all the cricket lovers get a scope to witness their favourite Bollywood actors at Barabati stadium for which the association has decided to slash the rates of the tickets. Sources said that OCA was contemplating to fix gallery tickets at a nominal price starting from Rs 50 to 100 ,while one would have to pay Rs 1,000 for a pavilion seat.
