Bhubaneswar: The state government has asked principals of the nodal Student Academic Management System (Sams) centre at every district to create a group on Whatsapp to ensure smooth implementation of admission to Plus Two colleges.

The group will be created in every district by the principal of the nodal Sams centre. It will include the admission-in-charges of all the higher secondary schools of the district.

Also, a state-level group has been created where the principal, admission-in-charge and data entry operator of each nodal Sams higher secondary school has been added. "Instant information on different government orders and process on Sams will be shared in the group that will be disseminated in the respective district-level groups. They can also share heir issues regarding the process which will be addressed immediately," said Sundarlal Seal, director of Directorate of Higher Secondary Education.

The school and mass education department has restricted a few Plus Two colleges from the admission process due to lack of infrastructure. The government has decided to shut down four colleges while 23 others have not been allowed to admit students.

Reports said the self-financing Rotary College in Bargarh district, Om Herambalaya Residential College at Berhampur in Ganjam district, Shree Valley College in Rourkela and Deogarh Women's College in Deogarh district have been closed.

This year, admissions to the Plus Two courses will be done only through the online mode under project Sams. Offline admissions are not permitted.

Following the third rounds of admission, classes in all the junior colleges will begin from July 19.
