Bhubaneswar: More than 6,000 students wrote the JEE (Advanced) amid tight security in four centres across the state on Sunday. There were no reports of any incidence.

According to reports, 6,304 students appeared for the nationallevel engineering entrance exam for admission into bachelors, integrated masters and dual-degree programmes (entry at the 10+2 level) in the 23 Indian Institutes of Technology.

The exam was conducted in two sittings in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Berhampur and Rourkela between 9am and 12pm and 2pm and 5pm.

The authorities made elaborate security arrangements for the smooth conduct of the examination. Like the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET for admission into medical colleges, a number of items were prohibited inside the examination hall, including electronic devices such as mobile phones, calculators, iPads, tablets, digital watches, books, study material of any type, geometry boxes, written or blank paper/piece of paper, and wallets.

Candidates were not allowed to wear rings, bracelets, earrings, pendants or clothes with big buttons.
