Santa Claus comes to town

Colourful event

Cambridge School in Cuttack celebrated its annual day on December 21. Students of all classes took part in various cultural programmes. A dance drama to depict the country's unity, Colours of India, was enacted by the students. The students also enacted a play on Jesus Christ and Christmas. There were plays on Ganesh Chaturthi, Mahishasura Badha and Id. A group of students performed a Kashmiri dance number too. Principal Johnson V. George, along with former international cricketer Shiv Sundar Das and actors Archita Sahu and Sabyasachi Mishra, were present at eh event. Veteran teachers such as Subhashree Mohanty, Anuradha Bisoi, Indu Pathak, Kishore Kumar Das, Rehana Begum and Madhuri Mohanty were felicitated to mark their 25 years of service to the school.

Music, dance & prizes

A colourful fusion of eastern and western cultures, a harmonious blend of music and dance marked the 44th annual day - Pratidhwani 2015: Resonance of Emotions at DAV Public School, Unit-VIII. The school choir enthralled the audience with the soulful rendition of music followed by the welcome address by principal Bhagyabati Nayak. Nayak presented the annual report, enumerating the school's achievements and milestones in all arenas. The chief guest, housing and urban development minister Puspendra Singh Deo, stressed on the responsibility and contribution of students towards society. Madan Mohan Panda, the chairman of the school managing committee, emphasised on the importance of simplicity and ethics to become good citizens. The event was preceded by the prize distribution ceremony.

Time to sing

Mother's Public School celebrated Christmas on December 23, with students and teachers singing carols and taking part in the Nativity programme. The students danced along with Santa Claus on the school premises. Principal Poly Patnaik shared her message of love, sacrifice, joy and peace during the celebration.

Parents' day

DAV Chandrasekharpur hosted parents' day - Aarohan 2015 - with an evening of cultural activities, including several dance forms such as folk, semi-classical, western and fusion. The students paid tribute to Michael Jackson through a dance number. They also showcased a variety of dance forms such as garba, aerobic, modern fusion and Bihu through their performances. The performance of the tiny tots on the theme of Swachh Bharat drew loud cheers and applause from the audience. Supreme Court judge Justice Dipak Mishra was present at the event as the chief guest. He said that believing in oneself is "the mantra to success". He cited instances from ancient scriptures and advised the students and parents to be compassionate towards others. Justice Mishra gave away the prizes to meritorious students and winners of different competitions.

Annual event

St Xavier's High School near Kedar Gouri held its annual function recently, with Sainik School principal Capt. Kunchan Mukherjee attending the programme as the chief guest. He talked about the right way to prepare the students for their future. Successful students were felicitated on the occasion. School principal Jaldhar Mohapatra read out the annual report, which was followed by a cultural show by the students.
