When I watch my favourite cartoon shows on television - Tom and Jerry, Ben 10, Richie Rich, Roll No 21 and Chhota Bhim, I always wonder about animation and how it succeeds to grab the attention of kids and elders. This leads me to think about the contribution of the American animator, film producer, director, artiste and creative genius, Walter Disney.
His inspiring work has made everybody’s childhood full of happy memories, and I want to become just like him - earn name and fame in the arena of animation and create characters that children would to see and remember.
Walt Disney, along with his brother Roy O. Disney, started his own company called Walt Disney Productions whose presence world over and popularity in the entertainment sector are unparalleled.
Characters such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck or Goofy are every child’s friend and hero. As a school kid, I do not know the basics of animation, but I really want to do something creative with the paint brush as well as computer, since animation is largely a computer-based vocation now. By watching animated or cartoon shows we learn many things as most of them are based on moral values and the lifestyle of Westerners.
With the animation characters adopting the Indian storylines such as Krishna-Kansha, Chhota Bhim and many others have attracted kids like me as we get to learn about epics such as the Mahabharat and the Ramayan. I will also try to create characters from stories from Odishan history and tradition.
