Black flag 

Nayagarh: Police on Wednesday detained six BJP workers when they were attempting to show black flags to law minister Arun Sahoo at Ranpur in Nayagarh district. 

Sources said that the saffron party workers tried to wave black flags at the minister when he was on the way to attend a Biju birth centenary celebration programme at Taria here.  

CBI raid

Rourkela: CBI officers on Wednesday raided the office and residence of two senior Rourkela Steel Plant officers on charges of irregularities in goods procurement. The search operation is being carried out at six places in Rourkela and one place in Bengaluru, a CBI spokesperson said.

Rehman hearing

Cuttack: Delhi police on Wednesday produced suspected al-Qaida in Indian Subcontinent operative Abdur Rehman before Salepur Judicial Magistrate First Class Court. Rehman was brought to Cuttack from Delhi early on Wednesday morning and kept at Malgodown police station amid tight security before he was produced at the court. He will be taken back to Delhi by the police team after the hearing.

Dowry case

Cuttack: Orissa High Court on Wednesday disposed of a dowry torture case filed by Barsa Swony Choudhury, daughter-in-law of former minister Raghunath Mohanty, against her husband Rajashree. Sources said Barsha Sony had filed an affidavit on June 14 urging the court to dismiss the case against her husband after they amicably settled their dispute.

Jumbo attack

Keonjhar: Two persons were killed and a woman was seriously injured in an attack by a wild elephant in Keonjhar district on Wednesdayday, officials said.

Body found

Sambalpur: The body of an unidentified man, aged about 45, was found floating on Chiplima canal, near Ghanteswari temple within Burla police station limits on Tuesday evening.
