Newborn rescued

Bhubaneswar: A newborn was rescued from well at Jaleswar Basti in Nayapalli on Saturday. The injured baby is undergoing treatment in the ICU of Capital Hospital. Local residents said that the baby was found crying in the abandoned well. “We rescued the baby and rushed him to Capital Hospital,” said a slum dweller.  Deputy superintendent of Capital Hospital Bijay Mohapatra said that the baby was stable. The Child Welfare Committee, Khordha, directed the police to conduct an investigation in to the incident. “We have also directed the Capital Hospital for free treatment of the baby,” said CWC member Benudhar Senapati.

Majhi bail

Bhubaneswar: Former Nabarangpur MP Pradeep Majhi, who had been arrested on June 25 along 18 other Congress workers for allegedly beating up the Raighar forest ranger and ransacking the department's range office during a demonstration, was released from jail following grant of bail on Saturday.
