Jessy out on bail

Balasore: The Balasore district and sessions court on Tuesday granted conditional bail to television actress Jessy, alias Pralipta Priyadarshini, who was arrested in connection with the death of choreographer-turned-actor Ranjit Pattnaik, alias Raja, 33. 

The 26-year-old actress was arrested on charges of abetment to suicide. 

Sources said Jessy was granted bail on a surety of Rs 20,000 and two bailers on the condition that she would co-operate with the investigation and would not try to influence any witnesses in the case.

Dance fest

Mayurbhanj: The three-day Chhau Nata Parab 2016 ended at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj on Monday. Artistes from Mayurbhanj, Seraikela (Jharkhand) and Purulia (Bengal) took part in the event. 

SIMI case

Rourkela: The five alleged SIMI activists arrested from Nala Road of Rourkela were produced before the SDJM court here on Tuesday. They were later sent to judicial custody till March 14.

Bribe arrest

Balasore: A senior head clerk of Baliapal block was arrested on Tuesday after being caught by vigilance sleuths while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000. The accused, Brundaban Chandra Das, was taking the bribe from Gayadhar Raul for clearing the final bill of a road.

Train stoppage

Sambalpur: The Jharsuguda-Sambalpur-Jharsuguda, Rourkela-Sambalpur-Rourkela, Rourkela-Puri-Rourkela, Jharsuguda-Titilagarh-Jharsuguda and Jharsuguda-Sambalpur-Jharsuguda passenger trains stopped at Jharasuguda Road from Tuesday. A ticket counter was also opened at Jharsuguda.
