Diplomat dead

Bhubaneswar: A 1998 batch Indian Foreign Service officer from the state, Biraja Prasad, who was appointed as the Ambassador of India to the Republic of Tajikistan, passed away on Saturday morning. Ministry of external affairs spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted news of Prasad’s demise.

Bhubaneswar: Police on Saturday arrested a Bangladeshi man for obtaining passport from regional passport office here by submitting forged documents. The police identified the person as Rinku Saha, 28, who was staying in Tarini slum. The police said they have registered a case in this regard. 

Air curtains

Puri: Two air curtain machines have been installed at the Kalahata Dwara of the Jagannath temple. The machines will safeguard the idols of the holy trinity inside the hall facing the sanctum sanctorum from dirt and dust during repair work. The three-foot-long devices will become operational from Sunday.
