Rap for state
Bhubaneswar: Union minister of state for rural development Ram Kripal Yadav on Saturday said the state government had failed to meet deadlines of projects under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. Yadav, who reviewed the centrally-sponsored schemes here, said the government had failed to meet the targets despite having sufficient funds.
Encephalitis
Bhubaneswar: The toll from Japanese encephalitis continues has risen to 106 in 65 days with in Malkangiri district after one more child succumbed to the vector-borne disease. The deceased was identified as Ramachandra Nayak, 5, of Disaruguda village within the dtsirtc's Korukonda block.
Pilgrims dead
Jajpur: Two Odia pilgrims were killed while 42 others suffered injuries when a private bus in which they were travelling overturned near Pune on Friday night. One of the deceased was identified as Prafulla Kumar Sahoo, 45, a native of Nathasahi within Panikoili police limits in Jajpur district. According to sources, injuries to nine are serious.
Train stops
Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway has decided to stop the Hatia-Ernakulam-Hatia Express at Sambalpur Railway Division's Bargarh Road, Kesinga and Muniguda stations from Monday midnight.
Boy missing
Berhampur: Police have arrested a liquor trader, identified as Bideshi Sethi, after a minor boy went missing from Dhobadipatapur village here. The 14-year-old boy has been missing for the past 12 days.
