Woman dies
Balasore: A 55-year-old woman died and two other family members suffered serious injuries after an explosion in a house in Bhograi on Friday afternoon. The incident took place at Ganeswarpur in Manadarsahi. The deceased has been identified as Malati Behera.
Two hurt
Berhampur: Panic gripped Santoshpur village near Humma in Ganjam district after two persons were injured as bombs were hurled on Thursday. The injured have been identified as Dillip Dalai and S. Reddy.
Scholarship
Bhubaneswar: The Pathani Samanta Mathematics Scholarship examination will commence from October 24. A total of 88,991 candidates will take the exam. The examination will be held at 395 centres across the state.

Polavaram project
Bhubaneswar: The forest and environment department of the state government filed an affidavit before the National Green Tribunal on Friday. Forest department secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra alleged that the Polavaram project was being undertaken without conducting a public hearing.
No prohibition
Bhubaneswar: Excise minister Damodar Rout said there was no proposal for prohibition in Odisha. A few outfits have recently threatened to approach the courts for ensuring total prohibition in the state.
JE complaint
Malkangiri: A complaint was filed against chief minister Naveen Patnaik and several ministers on Friday as the death toll rose to 50 due to Japanese encephalitis in Malkangiri. The complaint was filed by Ure Madi of Koimetla village at Malkangiri police station holding them responsible for the deaths.
