Bomb attack
Cuttack: Two motorcycle-borne criminals on Saturday opened fire at one Bijay Rout, 38, secretary of the Mali Sahi puja committee. They also lobbed crude bombs at Rout, injuring him on his hand. Deputy commissioner of police Sanjeev Arora said: "The bullet missed the person. But, he got injury in the bomb attack." The incident took place near a petrol pump on Bajrakabati Road around 9.15am, when the victim was riding a scooter. The police recovered one empty cartridge from the crime spot and suspect that past rivalry may be the reason behind the attack.
Gas mishap
Bhubaneswar: Six persons suffered injuries, when a gas cylinder caught fire in a house at Dandilo village on the city outskirts on Saturday. One Krushna Chandra Panda was seriously injured and rushed to SCB in Cuttack. Besides, the injured included a woman and a three-year-old child. The cylinder caught fire when attempts were being
made to repair a leakage.
Gang busted
Cuttack: Police on Saturday busted an inter-district gang of robbers and arrested five persons. Police commissioner R.P. Sharma said 210 grams of gold, one car, three motorcycles, three LED televisions, five laptops, nine mobiles, one camera and Rs 7,500 in cash were seized from the criminals.
