Train cancelled
Bhubaneswar: Train services were affected due to breaches in train line under Southern and South Central Railway jurisdiction. Puri-Digha Express, Howrah-Chennai Coromondal Express, Visakhapatnam-Tirupati Express will not ply on Wednesday. Digha-Puri Express scheduled to leave Digha on November 19 and Guahati-Chennai Express scheduled to leave Guahati on November 20 will also remain cancelled.
One killed
Rourkela: A herd of elephants killed a man on Monday night. This was the second killing by elephants in a week. A father and son duo, residents of Riun village on the bank of Koel river, were returning from the market when the elephants attacked them.
Fishermen held
Kendrapara: Forest personnel have taken into custody 36 sea-going fishermen in separate mid-sea interceptions for unlawful fishing activity along the Gahirmatha marine sanctuary in the past 72 hours. The arrested fishermen hail from Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara districts, said officials.
Man sentenced
Jajpur: A Jajpur district court on Tuesday sentenced a 60-year-old man to life imprisonment for murdering his sister-in-law about 20 months ago. Babu Bai of Haripur village under Sukinda police station was convicted for the murder of Jayanti Bai , 40, on March 9, 2014. He was also slapped with a fine of Rs 25,000.
Ponzi cuffs
Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the state crime branch on Tuesday arrested another director Tresty Securities Limited, a money deposit collection company which allegedly cheated investors worth Rs 10 crore. The director Hariarjun Panda was arrested on the basis of information given by the managing director of the Ponzi firm, Dayanidhi Mohapatra, who was arrested from Nashik in Maharashtra last week. The investigating agency also seized two cars belonging to the accused.
