Trains cancelled
Bhubaneswar: Due to the renovation work at Delanga, Birpurusottampur and Sakhigopal railway stations along the Khurda Road-Puri section, it has been decided to temporarily terminate two passenger trains and cancel one. Rourkela-Puri-Rourkela passenger will run between Rourkela and Cuttack and not between Cuttack and Puri from January 25 to February 2 from both the directions. Howrah-Puri-Howrah (Santragachi) passenger will also run between Howrah and Khurda Road and not between Khurda Road and Puri from both the directions. Puri-Khurda Road-Puri passenger will also remain cancelled till February 2 from both directions.
70-yr-old hit
Rourkela: Two unidentified goons shot at a 70-year-old man at Jagada on Friday. The victim got two bullet wounds and was reported to be in a critical state.
Arrested
Bhubaneswar: Police on Friday arrested Karuna an associate of P. Laxman Rao, the mastermind behind the murder of assistant general manager (finance) of Vizag Steel I. Surya Prasad Rao.
Plea rejected
Bhubaneswar: Khurda district and sessions court on Thursday rejected the bail plea of Sagar Ray who was arrested by the CBI in connection with the money laundering scam of Artha Tatwa Group.
Protest
Bhubaneswar: Staff members of Educational Multimedia Research Centre, which was set up in the National Institute of Social Work and Social Sciences, staged a protest on Friday, as they were allegedly denied salaries. Executive committee member and former president of the institute B.K. Patnaik said: “We are not receiving any funds from the UGC since past two years.”
Minor drowned
Berhampur: A Class I student of the Enam Belepada UP School under Kodala block in Ganjam accidentally drowned in a pond while attending nature’s call. The father of the deceased blamed the school authorities for not having sanitation facilities.

Bhubaneswar: Gandhian leader S.N. Subbarao visited the Odisha Khadi and Village Industries Board office on Friday. Board president Tejeswar Parida welcomed Subbarao.
Two nabbed
Berhampur: BNPur police arrested Sunil Bishoyi, 20, and Deepak Kumar Behera, 19, for their alleged involvement in a bomb attack on a foreign liquor shop at Khodasingi in August last year.
