JEE date extended

Bhubaneswar: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the last date of online applications for the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Mains. Students can now fill online forms and submit the same till December 26 (11.59pm). Earlier, the last date was December 18. The CBSE has updated about the same on its official website jeemain.nic.in.

Literary fest

Bhubaneswar: The National Children’s Literary fest hosted by KIIT International School concluded on Friday. Author Ruskin Bond led a conflagration of literary illuminati, including eminent writers such as Jerry Pinto, Chandrahaas Choudhury, Vinita Zutshi, who shared their thoughts and stories with an audience of all age groups.

Task force

Bhubaneswar: The state government has decided to constitute a task force headed by the chief secretary, which will present a half yearly report on the implementation of State Policy for Girls and Women-2014 in March. The decision was taken at a meeting presided by chief minister Naveen Patnaik. 

Bhoi honour

Bhubaneswar:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday felicitated Odisha mountaineer Jogabyasa Bhoi in New Delhi. During the meeting petroleum and natural gas minister Dharmendra Pradhan was also present. Bhoi successfully scaled the Mount Aconcagua expedition, the highest peak of South America.

Petition rejected 

Cuttack: Orissa High Court on Friday rejected the petition filed by BJD leader Raghunath Sahu, challenging the election of BJP's Bibhuti Bhusan Harichandan from Chilika Assembly constituency. 

Airstrip revamp

Balasore: The 70-year-old airstrip in Rasgobindapur is lying neglected. Balasore MP R.K. Jena demanded its renovation in the parliament on Friday. 

Trucks fined

Balasore: Three stone chips-laden trucks were seized by Soro tehsildar for overloading on Friday. A fine of Rs 77,000 was 
recovered from them.

Paradip: Paradip Oil Refinery has been conferred Best oil industry-2014 award by Odia Televiewers Private Limited on Friday.

Minor injured

Dhenkanal: Three-year-old Arpita Sahu suffered from burns at Dahimal anganbadi centre when hot rice-water accidentally fell on her. She received 30 per cent body burn. The girl was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. 

Lawyer dead

Balasore: Ramchandra Singh of Suteibadagaon, 35, an advocate, was found dead with multiple injuries near Remuna on Friday.
